my opinions on the ending.
I think 'the chrysalids' ending was really good as it summarizes the story well and answers all queries i had developed while reading the book. it ties up the loose ends properly and corresponds to the start of the story. it had started with a very detailed description about David's dream of a place where his own 'kind' lived and it ended about David, Petra and Rosalind arriving there in the shiny fish-shaped aircraft that he'd once dreamt of.
The land was far away from his birthplace: Waknuk. He later found out his 'country' was named Z[S]ealand.
In my opinion, the ending explained the whole concept of evolution well and got me thinking about the belief of those that often says its either: 'killing' or to 'be killed', and that killing is necessary in order for our own survival.
The author had used many quotes from the Bible and made full use of them to prove his point and gave me a deeper understanding of it.

"the essential quality of life is living; the essential quality of living is change; change is evolution: and we are part of it."At the ending of the book, Micheal had decided to go back for Rachel who was still waiting in fear back in Waknuk while they had been waging a war in the Fringes with the Fringes people. He gave up his opportunity to travel safely to his own land with the rest of them but instead took up a perilous challenge to go back for Rachel. His courageous act and sacrifice for Rachel is really commendable.

To me, this whole novel was a 'different' and 'special' read as it had taught me that we should accept those who are handicapped or different from the rest of us.
It was definitely enjoyable and the author's way of thinking is greatly admired by me.
I think this book should be recommended to other mature readers as it makes a significant difference really, and it changes some of my mindset towards evolution and to those less-fortunate.
Lastly:
"The static, the enemy of change, is the enemy of life, and therefore our implacable enemy."
